Team CHOP FAQs
What is the application process to be selected for Team CHOP?
All interested runners must complete an online application. This application collects your contact information, fundraising experience, why you want to run for Team CHOP, and your fundraising plans/goal. Once you submit your completed application, we may contact you directly to speak further. Please Note: By completing the application, you are not guaranteed a charity bib.
Do I have to have run a marathon to be considered?
Absolutely not! We accept runners of all levels and welcome anyone to apply who is interested in running to raise funds for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Can I join Team CHOP if I have acquired a race bib on my own?
Yes! Anyone can join Team CHOP for any race they plan to participate in. If we have a race-specific team, you are invited to join that team and will not be held to any fundraising minimum if you’ve acquired your bib on your own.
What if I am not competing in a race but am planning to create my own fitness challenge?
Anyone who is planning on creating their own personal fitness or activity challenge is welcome to join Team CHOP and support the hospital through their efforts! We’ve had Team CHOP members bike across the country and hike the Grand Canyon, so we encourage you to get creative with your personal challenge.
Does CHOP provide support for travel expenses?
No, CHOP does not provide any stipends or support to runners for travel and lodging expenses related to their race. All accepted runners will need to make their own accommodations.
Fundraising
How much money do I have to raise?
Runners who are offered a charity bib entry must commit to a fundraising minimum specific to each race. If you are interested in a particular race’s fundraising minimum, please email teamchop@chop.edu.
How do donations help kids?
When you fundraise for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, you become part of the breakthroughs that change lives. Every dollar you raise fuels the care, research and support that give children and families hope today and brighter tomorrows. You have the power to direct your impact — from advancing innovative research, to strengthening family support services, to providing world-class care for children facing complex conditions. By joining us, you’re helping every child reach a healthier, happier future.
What happens if I don’t reach my fundraising commitment?
Every runner who accepts a charity bib provides their credit card information and agrees to that race’s fundraising minimum set by CHOP. If a runner is not able to reach the minimum by the fundraising deadline, their credit card will be charged the difference.
How can my network donate to me?
Each accepted Team CHOP member will be set up with a customizable fundraising page through DonorDrive. That page can be shared with anyone in your network interested in making a 100% tax-deductible gift. You can also connect your fundraising page to a Facebook and/or Instagram fundraiser to reach an even bigger audience.
Where do I send checks?
Checks should be made out to “CHOP Foundation” and can be sent to the address below. Please also include documentation stating that the gift(s) should be credited to your fundraising efforts for the specific race you are participating in.

Yes. Gifts mailed in can take some time to process. If you mail in checks, please notify teamchop@chop.edu so we can keep an eye out and ensure your gift is received and accurately credited to your efforts. Once received, we will add the gift to your fundraising page as an offline donation.
